Today would have been my Dad's 68th birthday,
had he still have been with us.
Its odd realising over the last 4 years without him how much has changed, mainly because he's not actually here but also the fact it was his demise that has brought about said changes.
Yes, I do still miss him terribly. I hate the fact that I never had the chance to introduce him to Simon (not that it bothers me that much, as I just know he would approve of him, which is why I'm keeping him)
I hate the fact that there are still so many things I would have liked to ask him, I imagine what he would be like now if he was still alive and always wonder if at some point he would have physically strangled my mother :D
The good thing is whenever I do now remember him, which is still often, the memories are always bloody good ones, which leave you with that childish smirk across your face just picturing him laughing.
That - and he would certainly not have approved of anyone moping about on account of him.
I suppose this is what people say that time heals all wounds. Yes, I suppose it does but time also helps gets things into perspective too and in the words of the William Shatner song "were all gonna die"
Life is short, we know this & hopefully you are all making the ultimate most of the life that you do have, if you're not...stop fucking moaning and
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!
Happy Birthday Dad.
