Culture shock….

Current mood: calm
Category: Life

Oh eck missus… have I had to actually work for a living! Yes I am currently In a hotel just up the road from where the unit is set up for the one and only night it seems where I get a good nights sleep and there is a shower….

Nah, I slept like a baby last night it must be said… granted it was in the back of a 7.5 tonne truck on a camp bed and it must be said I froze my tits off whilst my mentor trainer martin slept quite comfortably in his warm sleeper cab… bastard… no, not really… he deserves it because he's been doing this for over 7 years and worked his way up to it and also then he doesn't have to listen to my very loud snoring of a night time….or so I thought… seems with me in the back of the same truck, my snoring travels…. Not that I kept him awake with it but he was aware of it… opps.

Either way tonight is the one and only night of the trip we get a hotel, because they want us showered and clean for tomorrows event duty… fair enough, I wouldn't want me there trying to encourage runners into the stand when pen and inking quite as much as I was after today's hard work and toil and effort.

I had a soak in the bath and will slip into my nice big bed momentarily and watch a film… probably casino royale as its quite good after all and has nice memories of the first time I watched it.

..

So the first job, be it only half way through is going well… and I have me a nice young man these days…boy fruity – and all is well and hunky dory… couldn't really ask for any more now could I!

Nighty night and will be back online after Tuesday as being in the middle of a field is after all quite restrictive when it comes to wireless connections!!!

Never say never….

Current mood: confused
Category: Life

Managed to finish the mountain of ironing (mainly consisting of uniforms needed for tomorrow) then sat down for some lunch whilst watching a smidging of TopGear – as you do, next thing I know its 3pm. I'm guessing body was tired and just did its own thing.

Feel much better for the large cat nap it must be said and has left me refreshed for the pending shopping trip with mumsie banks… lovely, 2 hours in a car park -

Head’s buggered

Current mood: contemplative

Don't ask me why but I had two hairy arsed nightmares last night, the second of which woke me at 3am and I couldn't get back to sleep after *humph*

Evidently feeling slightly tired… and have many things to do today one of which is cleaning this house again as it has turned into a complete shit tip since the weekend… gawd knows how that happened!

And joy of joys I will be taking mumsie and her neighbour to Asda tonight…. Great, another 2 hours sitting in the car… what a treat that will be. A good book ready for that little jaunt me thinks.

Day one of being un employed….

Current mood: chipper
Category: Life

Ok so technically I'm not as I have another job but until Thursday I will be twiddling ones thumbs and what seems like cleaning for Britain. Today the inside of the car got it… hoover and all.

Granted there are a few things I could be doing like packing ready for Thursday/Friday but I honestly have nooo idea what I am going to need as yet so will wait to do that after I have popped into work tomorrow to hand in last weeks timesheet (when I can ask!)

So this morning I did chuck a weenie bit of a wobbler first thing when it did finally sink in that I don't actually work for NCC any more. Maybe even felt a bit lost as to what I should be doing… it soon passed as most things do and I was up and about doing stuff.

So day one went without a worry really and I can finally eradicate anything that was council from ones head and start to absorb what I will be doing now!

It's all just so exciting…

Hasn’t really hit home yet….

Current mood: contemplative

The leaving "dooo" was fun, no doubt about it. A good time and amount of alcohol was consumed all of which I appreciated very much so. I will miss a lot of the reprobates yes, but I wont miss the place, that's for sure. Anything that rots your brain can't be good for you. Had to be done and I don't regret it in the slightest.

The only problem I have now – which probably won't completely hit me until tomorrow when I don't have to go anywhere is how much my life will change not being there. Don't get me wrong it's not the only good thing to have happened in my life of late and also for that I am very grateful, but it's all just – well, so different and to be honest, quite scary sometimes.

I'm sure when I wake up tomorrow all will come apparent – but until then I will try my best not to turn into a complete gibbering wreck.

A milestone in the life of Arse today.

Current mood: accomplished
Category: Goals, Plans, Hopes

Seeing as today is my last day working with Norwich City Council after 17 years I figured it would only be right to post a "tribute" as such to appreciate the difference it will make in my life from now on.

There have been many ups and downs for sure, but all in all it's not been a bad old stint. In fact you couldn't ask for something that has left me in the last 7 years of it as pretty much self employed getting away with murder.

About time I worked for a living and more importantly, enjoy what I am working on.

By lunchtime I will be down the pub, and I have no intention of shifting until it closes… so don't expect too much from me tomorrow!

Goodbye Council, hello life.

Good news bad news….

Current mood: annoyed

It's been a funny old week. I have had two leaving gifts so far, One big ole bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates – both from colleagues and both of which were not the best choice for me really. Not that I don't appreciate the sentiment, I do but these people know me for fucks sake and do I strike as the flowers chocolate kind? Hmmm me thinks not.

Yes the flowers are in a vase and look very nice on my kitchen table but will now inevitably die quickly due to being in my house. The chocolates never even got out of the office before the boys with worms that I work with snaffled quick smart. I suppose I am a bit of a shit when it comes to gifts. I was discussing tonight with the lads as to if they had a collection for me (as you do when you are a cheeky mare) Turns out they have and after my reactions to the flowers and choccy's decided it would be better ask what I actually wanted…

"I'd rather have the cash thanks"

So, I will be getting the whole collection it seems tomorrow of which I will probably spend in the pub where it will be much more appreciated. Get in there J

On the bad front, Mother decided to prove how much she disapproves of the new job etc in spectacular style this morning.

Her sister Jean (more commonly known as "the Auntie Christ" ) comes round every Thursday and they both toddle off into the city for a wander and shopping. Normally I get to avoid said visit due to dropping off the mad arsed mutt early enough to avoid… today I woke up at 08:15 – opps so walked slap bang into it first thing, great. So after saying hello etc etc mentioned the fact this would be the last day I get to drive the van…just striking up conversation. Ms. Christ looked puzzlingly at me. I then said "didn't mum tell you I was leaving?" Ohhh no this then fall into the "my fucking useless daughter has thrown in a secure sensible job for a summer job" territory type conversation of which didn't really give me much scope to get out of. Bollocks.

First words to fall out of my mouth along the lines of "Oh, good to see you are very proud of your daughter then, seeing as you didn't even bloody mention it to her - thanks"

So yet again I am in the dog house – she managed to prickle me once again. Normally I don't tend to bite, but today – both barrels. I'll learn one day I suppose.

But on the plus side I have my schedule for work next week with TRO – yay! I will be on the SAAB/Chevrolet unit on this occasion, instead of Vauxhall at a thing called "Hellrunner" In Delamere and we travel there Friday and come back Tuesday… cant be bad. Will update you all on it as and when…

The secret to good mental health revealed….

Current mood: amused
Category: Jobs, Work, Careers

So far this week I could have quite happily strangled quite a few people or just maimed them ever so slightly (leaving no marks of course)

My last week at NCC is proving to be as irritating as physically possible after a good stint at the new firm. Not that I am complaining of course… *cough* but shit hitting the fan that I am actually going is doing my bloody swede in and my head really isn't in the right place for them any more and who can blame me?

So I am just hanging in there for my last day Friday which will be spent down the pub and I can switch off my brain to it all – there's a lot of switching that will be needed granted but I'm sure I can unravel the wiring to dismiss it all quick smart.

Had yet more training with TRO this afternoon which was a giggle. Vauxhall preparation (the client I will be working for) and getting to test drive a Tigra, Corsa and Astra. I'm pretty sure they wont be asking for quite as 'honest' opinions on the cars in the future as to be honest driving around in a hard top bright convertible Tigra really did make me feel a complete tit… yes its aimed at you typical 'girly' market of which technically yes I do fall under but I looked like a complete hairdresser and that really isn't right.

However, getting back to the title of ones blog of today – Today my somewhat hormone induced foul mood this week has been sorted, done dusted and snapped like the evil twig that it is… Yes you've guessed it… I have treated myself to some new undies Hoorah!

Nothing slinky, kinky, girly or pretty I am sorry to say, but some very functional boy shorts ready for the new job. Comfort is the essence needed for the job I can tell you! So being me, didn't buy anything plain or simple… oh no these are all funny things with daft patterns and things like "bite me" written around the top. So how did this save my mental health? Simple really, every time I went for a piss today and saw my pants had rabbits all over them I laughed. Simple things eh?

Oh, now some of you have noticed that I had a kin' huge clearout of friends the other day and set the profile to private… with good reasons which will stay with me. BUT it means if you are here you are what this daft bird classes as 'special' and you are along for the ride… hold on tight people!

Contradictions and compliments?!?

Current mood: tired
Category: Life

Today I had my driving assessed by and ex traffic police type bloke (aka 'ex plod') It was a good deal of fun I must say and we really did have a right ole' giggle throughout the morning.

Now I realise that I was taught to drive in the days of old… meaning I use my gears to slow down, only tend to have one hand on the wheel and hardly ever use my handbrake when toddling about in a beefy vehicle… So imagine my delight when I get told today I should use only the brakes to slow down, constantly putting on the handbrake and not "ratcheting it" – hmm that did seem to annoy lol and then, my favourite moment of the experience quote: "you have great clutch control" then telling me off for using it! Just about sums it all up really lol. Let's just say it will take some time to get used to a somewhat 'different' style of driving but it started to work no sooner had we had the constructive criticism. Sure I'm not the only one who thought it was somewhat funny.

Then after the day was over decided to get ones butt down to greasy monkey mechanic land to try to get the chuffing rear door fixed on Reg the Renault. Highly amusing with 5 or more arses of mechanic and myself included poking out from doors of my motor, screwdrivers, hammers and WD40 flailing all over the place yet one still came home with a stuck shut door…

Not wanting to be defeated, out came all of the violent tools when I arrived home and I managed to get the little bugger open. BUT the internals of the lock, clips and anything that is supposed to work is now bollocksed, but fortunately still wont open without being clouted internally. I now have the choice of paying to have all lock, catches and such like to be replaced or just saying fuck it and having one door out of 5 that's stuffed. I'm thinking leaving it buggered is easier. If I can't get into it then no one will break in using that door I suppose. Bloody old bit of crap.

So after my night of not getting to sleep until after 02:30, a long old day training and then fannying about with my car for hours I am home and looking somewhat zombie like now…. I think an early night may be in order but knowing my luck I will be sitting up still at midnight twiddling thumbs wondering why I can't nod off…

Not to worry, the wine is helping quite a lot this evening.
